• 1. I do not have a Vu unit but would like to conference with a Vu unit. Is this possible? If Yes, How?

  One could get connected to a Vu unit using a computer with a webcam & headset using our Web Vu feature. 

• 2. Do I need to install any software or tools for Web Vu?

  Yes, the application that needs to be installed on the desktop or Laptop is Adobe Flash Player ver 10.0 and above, Internet browser Firefox ver 3.5 and above/Internet explorer ver 8.0 and above/Chrome ver 8.0 and above.

• 3. What are the hardware requirements?

  Headset with an echo cancellation microphone and a Web camera.

• 4. How many Web clients could be a part of Vu conference?

  It could be a total of 10 in any combination of PC client and Vu unit. For example 9 PC client and 1 Vu unit. 

• 5. How do I use Web Vu feature from a client?

  Open an internet browser window http://talk.vutelepresence.com , login and create a Meeting ID. Instruction guide could be downloaded by clicking on the ‘Help’ link on the website http://talk.vutelepresence.com.

• 6. Can I control echo using the Web Vu interface on the desktop or Laptop?

  In addition to usage of head set with echo cancellation microphone, right click on the webpage select settings-> click on the microphone icon and put a check mark on ‘Reduce Echo’. Before one could exit off this window confirm if the right microphone is listed in the dropdown? If confirmed then click on the close button.

  

• 7. What is the minimum bandwidth required for using the Web connect feature on my computer?

  256 Kbps

• 8. Can I use the microphone and speaker of computer for Web connect?

  We would recommend usage of headset with an echo cancellation microphone.

• 9. Are there any camera make, which has some issue on the Web Vu interface?

  Microsoft LifeCam VX-6000 camera.

• 10. How do I use my Vu unit to view the web clients?

  Click on Vu TelePresence ® icon-> Web Connect, which will list the meeting request created, click on the meeting name followed by clicking the ‘Join’ button.

• 11. How many windows will I be able to view on the Vu screen?

  It would in proportion to the number of Web clients participating in the conference. For example if there are 6 Web clients then on the Vu screen I would be able to view 6 windows (no self view).The Web client interface would display 6 Web clients plus the view of the individual facing the Vu camera that is 6+1 windows.

• 12. Can I chat using the Web interface?

  Yes, one could chat from Web client to Web client only.

• 13. When I use my Web Vu on the client side I experience echo?

  Echo issues are due to the incorrect version of Adobe Flash. Install their new version 10.3, which could be downloaded at: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flashplatformruntimes/flashplayer10-3/ 

   

• 14. When I enter Vu number in meeting creation page I get an error

  This happens if the Vu number(s) are not properly spaced or when a wrong Vu number is entered.
